  Mike mentions a Henry Stern, who arrived in the US in 1850, as being his great-uncle....the oldest of his maternal grandfather's brothers. Henry's younger brothers, Leopold and Herman, joined his later. (Apparently one of these three brothers' sons was the father of Carolyn Stern...Mike's mother.) [1]
