  • Notes
    • Adele filed for Social Security number November 25, 1947, in Philadelphia, at age 46. From March 14, 2002 email from Ralph Loeb, Jr. (Adele's nephew) When Adele died, Ellen and I went to Pikesville to help Joe- one of the main things that we did was help get Adele's clothes to Goodwill, and help clean out the attic. Another couple, Joe and Adele's best friends were there also to help. In the attic we found Louella's ashes in a plain cardboard box. Joe had just left them up there and had done nothing with them. While Joe was out of the house on business, the four of us took the box to the back of the back yard. We said the Kaddish, and then dumped the ashes. We all thought it very ironic that Louella would wind up that way. You asked how Louella was able to afford a fancy apartment in New York at the time that Joe and Adele married. I have often wondered that too, but haven't a clue. [1]
