Also survived by her sister-in-law Clarissa Wardwell Pell, 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. WARDWELL-Lelia. The Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York, Inc. notes with sadness the death of Lelia Wardwell, a loyal friend of the Orchestra, dedicated supporter, and member of its board of trustees from 1959 to 1962 and again from 1964 to 1970. Mrs. Wardwell served on the Special Gifts Committee, and worked tirelessly to ensure the successes of the 125th and 150th anniversary campaigns and other endowments at the Philharmonic. Her vision helped to safeguard the gift of music for future audiences. Her caring legacy will long continue to enrich all of our lives. We extend deep condolences to her family. Kurt Masur, Music Director Paul B. Guenther, Chairman Deborah Borda, Exec Director [11]
